The Children's Literature Database Company, LLC (CLCD) is proud to announce that our reviews have just surpassed a major milestone. There are over 100,000 reviews in our database. We offer you a current and retrospective approach to children's literature that is unmatched by other databases. We have Booklist reviews for the past ten years, files from CCBC Choices since 1996, and the Horn Book audio reviews from 1998. These reviews cross all publishers' lines and provide information on both trade and series titles for the school and library markets. "David Wisniewski passed away in his sleep the morning of September 11, 2002. He had a recent neurological problem, and had seemed to be improving, but sadly did not survive. "Just this week David had seen the finished books for HALLOWEENIES, and he was so happy with how it turned out. "He will, of course, be remembered as the 1997 Caldecott Medalist for his 6th book, THE GOLEM. But perhaps even more, he'll be known for his off-beat postmodern humor, seen in TOUGH COOKIE, THE SECRET KNOWLEDGE OF GROWN-UPS, and HALLOWEENIES. Everyone who knew him loved his wit and his vibrancy; he was also quite an inspirational speaker. We will all miss him."This month, Susan Heyboer O'Keefe of My Life and Death by Alexandra Canarsie (yes, that is a strange title), Love Me Love You and One Hungry Monster is one of our featured authors this month as are Andrew Clements, Karen Hesse and Janet Shaw. Search Tip of the Month Q. Why doesn't the CLCD search screen look as nicely organized on my computer as it did when I first saw a demonstration of the service? A. It may be that your computer's video resolution is set to standard VGA mode (640x480). The CLCD search screen has been optimized for display on monitors where the resolution has been set to SuperVga (800x600). Although still functional, the search screen will not be displayed as nicely by the browser at the lower resolution. The Free Stuff Shorter days, longer shadows and a feel of magic in the air.
