CLCD NEWSLETTERVolume 2, Issue 12December 2003

This is the time of year for lists. Right now, I have several and will have to soon make a list to keep me apprised of all my lists. With guests coming for the holidays, I have lists of menus and an accompanying grocery list. I have lists of gifts purchased and gifts yet to buy. I have my holiday card list. Newspapers and magazines are providing lists of the top gifts of the year. ALA and other organizations have committees that are compiling lists of the best books from which they will select the award winners. We have heard from several committee members that the CLCD is at the top of their list of professional resources. With 27 review sources, you can quickly find a variety of perspectives on a book. You can also quickly locate recently published titles. At CLCD we are happy to hear that our database has become an invaluable tool in your daily work as well as special committee work. If you're not yet a subscriber, put that at the top of your list of things to do today.

Search Tip of the Month
Just a reminder that you can always put information in the search box and are not limited to the predefined fields. For example, if you were looking for a certain publisher you could of course use the publisher box to key in the information. However if you wanted to be more specific you could enter the name of the imprint with or without the publisher name in the search box and further refine your search.

If you have tips for searching or questions, please do give us a call. We are always interesting in learning how you are using the database, and how we can make it better meet your needs. (1 800 469 2070)

This Month's Features
As you might expect we have a big round up of Christmas and Hanukkah books. In addition we are joining with others who are celebrating the marvelous accomplishment of the Wright brothers. Our feature includes recent books about them and flight in general. Sharon Levin is back with another issue of Book Corner and she has some excellent suggestions for holiday gift giving.

Our featured authors this month include two fairly new to the US marketplace-Carll Cenut and Alexis Deacon and a publisher feature about Neil Gaiman and Dave McKean-- two who are becoming very well know in the children's market.

Spreading the News
Our monthly newsletter is now available to everyone within an organization, not just the primary contact. A feature at www.childrenslit.com will provide you with a form allowing you to sign up for just the electronic newsletter. Indeed, it is the next best thing to having the book in hand, and the best tool for leading you to the best books. All at a most affordable price. To subscribe to the CLCD, go to www.childrenslit.com.    Your inquiry about CLCD has generated this email. Our newsletter is issued monthly. Please be assured that we do not sell or rent our lists.
