Spreading the News
Are you looking for a reason to support your decision to subscribe to the Children's Literature Comprehensive Database (CLCD)? We can give you a million of them, for there are now a million MARC records in our database. Along with that we continue to add reviews. This month we will have 155,000 reviews of books, audio and video recordings and CDs.
To help you make discerning choices there are 266,000 awards, prizes, best books lists and reading list entries. And each month, we continue to grow to keep the CLCD the most comprehensive database available on children's materials.
To our subscribers, we say, "Thanks a million for your support."
To those of you who have not yet subscribed, we say, "What are you waiting for? Now is the time to 'Spring' into action."

'Tis the season to don your Easter bonnet, white gloves and black patent leather shoes, for the Easter and Spring books have arrived. Our feature will lead you to the best of the season. Passover was early this month, but we do have a good selection of books of Jewish interest-most of which can be enjoyed all year long.
With our apologies to Robert Browning we say: Oh, to be a poem now that April's here. We are featuring many new poetry books from which to select your poem of the day this month. Among them is the beautifully crafted Hummingbird Nest: A Journal of Poems by Kristine O'Connell George and illustrated by Barry Moser. It is a warm and inviting way to get your students looking at nature, delighting in words and phrases and developing their own journals. Also take a look at the Children's Literature Choices for 2004 where we selected our favorites from the previous year including Earthshake: Poems from the Ground Up and The Way a Door Closes a 2004 Lee Bennett Hopkins Poetry Award Honor Book.
Also our featured authors this month include Sharon Creech and Kevin Henkes.
To quickly obtain copies of any books you need go to the Children's Literature online bookstore powered by Barnes and Noble. When you sign on as a subscriber to the CLCD, you and anyone in your organization who has access to the database will receive an additional discount on all purchases.

For those of you who like to know what series a book belongs to, we have added that information from the cataloging records as part of the displayed search results. It isn't perfect because the cataloging records are inconsistent (we don't do the cataloging), but it is some help. For example, the books in the Magic Tree House series have numbers and they will show if it is part of the cataloging information.

Our monthly newsletter is now available to everyone within an organization, not just the primary contact. A feature at www.childrenslit.com will provide you with a form allowing you to sign up for just the electronic newsletter. We loved one of the most recent quotes about CLCD from Karla Schmit, Professor Library Department, Librarian Laboratory School, Shippensburg University ---"Every author, every title, every time."
The Children's Literature Comprehensive Database is your most complete source of information about children's books. Indeed, it is the next best thing to having the book in hand, and the best tool for leading you to the best books. All at a most affordable price. To subscribe to the CLCD, go to www.childrenslit.com.
Your inquiry about CLCD has generated this email. Our newsletter is issued monthly. Please be assured that we do not sell or rent our lists. If you do not wish to receive our monthly updates, please reply to this e-mail and type "unsubscribe" in the subject field, or use this link -- [link].
