Spreading the News

June is a month often associated with milestones. It is a traditional month for weddings and anniversaries, as well as graduations and the start of new careers. Here at The Children’s Literature Comprehensive Database (CLCD) we are celebrating a big event this month: our 300,000th review. We are quite proud of the list of more than 35 review publications included in the CLCD. They represent quality reviews from throughout the English-speaking world and provide a wide range of perspectives to help you determine whether a particular book is the one you need.

We continue to look for review journals that can help you make more informed choices about the books you purchase. We are quite excited, therefore, to announce that reviews from Canadian Children’s Book News, a publication of the Canadian Children’s Book Centre are now accessible at the Children’s Literature Comprehensive Database (CLCD).

We are celebrating our 300,000th Review at ALA and you are invited!
Please join us at Booth 1651 at the ALA Exhibits in Washington, D. C.

Carolyn Reeder will be at our booth on Saturday, June 23rd at 10 AM to sign copies of her new book, Timothy Donovan's Story—part of the trilogy “Before the Creeks Ran Red” originally published as three linked novellas by HarperCollins and now available in paperback from Children's Literature.

Jeanne Pettenati will be at our booth on Sunday June 24 at 2 PM signing her new book, Galileo's Journal, 1609-1610, published by Charlesbridge.

Each day we will be giving away some special bright yellow tote bags to celebrate.

Quote of the Month

"The CLCD searches, reviews, and other information in the book records help me greatly in the selection and purchase of books. I work on a small budget, am maintaining a collection over the age span of kindergarten to eighth grade, and need to target purchases precisely. I find that the detail and search parameters of the database help me to make better purchase decisions, saving time and money, and increasing the quality of what I purchase."

Don’t forget to use the B&N Button. It will provide additional information and current pricing for the books you are considering for purchase. In addition, should you decide to purchase through B&N, all CLCD subscribers get an extra 5% discount.
