Announces an Agreement with bigchalk.com
The Children’s Literature Comprehensive Database Company, LLC (CLCD) has just signed an agreement with bigchalk.com, inc. for brokering subscriptions to the CLCD database—a collection for school librarians/media specialists, teachers, children's librarians and those in academia responsible for library science, education, and school media specialists programs. The Children's Literature Comprehensive Database is a web-based reference service consisting of over 500,000 MARC-compatible bibliographic records and more than 35,000 reviews. The bibliographic records cover a wide range of materials from picture books to young adult literature. The database is updated monthly with more than 500 new MARC records and approximately 300 reviews. These reviews come from several sources including Kirkus, VOYA, KLIATT, The ALAN Review, Resource Links, Parent CouncilÒ and Children's Literature. Additional book review sources, as well as multi-media reviews including CD-ROM, educational software and videos are being added to the service. Bob Asleson, former president of R.R. Bowker, who directs the marketing of CLCD’s extensive database for its owner and founder Marilyn Courtot says, "we are excited that bigchalk.com will help us continue our program to give librarians and teachers inexpensive access to the broadest possible range of reviews for children’s books and related materials." bigchalk.com, is an education destination for the entire K-12 learning community.
