News From The Children's Literature Comprehensive Database

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 13, 2001

The Children's Literature Comprehensive Database (CLCD) now offers reviews from a dozen independent review media, among them are The Bulletin, The Five Owls, VOYA, and Kirkus. It can now save you more time than ever, for with the click of a button, these reviews are at your fingertips.

The CLCD database currently contains over 500,000 MARC records and more than 40,000 full-text reviews from the independent review sources. Approximately 1,000 new reviews are added each month. Fiction and nonfiction books may be accessed together or separately. Users may also make more specific searches by genre. One may even browse the virtual shelf on which a selection is located to find books and media materials related to it.

We are pleased to announce the addition of Awards & Prizes to our database, with over 300 major awards and prizes listed. Among them are the Newbery and Caldecott, Boston Globe-Horn Book, the Batchelder Award, and those offered by each state. However, we didn't stop with the American Awards. The recipients of the Hans Christian Andersen Prize can also be accessed. You can discover the winners of awards from Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand.

The category is electronically searchable by award. Each book entry lists the awards it has received.
Among the many applications of the CLCD database, current subscribers are using it:

   · For collection development

   · For acquisitions

   · To plan curriculum for a broad range of students

   · To create specialized bibliographies and reading lists

To further help you with your collection development, you will discover that a number of "Best Books" lists are included as well.

The rate for a subscription is $249.95 for unlimited searching and use of the database for one full year. Discounts are available for site licenses.

Now is the time to take advantage of the company's free trial offer, which can be found at www.childrenslit.com. If you have questions, email Marilyn Courtot at Marilyn@Childrenslit.com, or phone her at 1-800-469-2070.
