CURRICULUM TOOLS ADDED TO THE CHILDREN'S LITERATURE COMPREHENSIVE DATABASE

October 29, 2004 - The Children's Literature Comprehensive Database, LLC (CLCD) announces the inclusion of links to curriculum tools. These are lesson plans and teaching guides on children's books, authors and illustrators from a variety of sources. Publishers such as Farrar Straus & Giroux, Harcourt, HarperCollins, Orca Book Publishers, Scholastic and the Houghton Mifflin trade division have already provided information to facilitate access their teaching guides. Other sources include children's book authors, children's literature specialists, and teachers. The first of these were added to the database in October, with hundreds to be added over the next few months and updates will be made whenever new items are identified for inclusion.

A section called "Curriculum Tools" will appear on the full display page along with the book reviews, author and illustrator web site information, awards, honors and prizes, reading lists and reading measurement programs, MARC records, subject headings, and book jacket images. Records with associated "Curriculum Tools" will be identified, and you will be able to search for them.

Marilyn Courtot, President of the CLCD, states, "We have had many requests from library and educational professionals for these curriculum tools, and we are delighted with the response that we have received from publishers and other teaching guide and lesson plan creators. With this most recent addition, the CLCD is certainly the key place to turn for information about children's and young adult materials."
