The WOW Review: Reading Across Cultures is an on-line quarterly journal of critical reviews on children's and adolescent literature that highlights intercultural understanding and global perspectives. It is published by the University of Arizona, College of Education, which has established the International Collection of Children's and Adolescent Literature, a teaching and research collection of high quality, culturally authentic international children's literature. "Today more than ever we need to acquaint young people with other cultures, whether they be half-way around the world or half-way around the block. As educators of children we need to make sure that the books we give them present the cultures as accurately as possible," states Marilyn Courtot, President of CLCD. The advisory committee for WOW Review is comprised of academics from across the United States and Saudi Arabia. WOW reviews focus on critiquing the cultural authenticity of the culture or country featured in each book. CLCD Subscribers already have access to thirty-eight professional review resources and the addition of WOW Reviews gives another dimension and different perspectives for meeting the critical analytical needs of professionals in every aspect of the education and library service fields. Being able to rely on quickly accessible information makes working with vast amounts of data easy for professionals, educators, and parents striving to make informed decisions on purchasing materials or doing research about literature from PreK through twelfth grade.
